Skin Help

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Hey all. I am beyond frustrated with my skin lately and am looking for some advice/suggestions. I have fair skin with golden undertones. I also have combination skin that is sensitive. I currently use the Biore Skin Preservation Line for my moisturizer and face wash. I use Bare Escentuals for my foundation. My main issues lately have been:

-Red in my face, mainly on my cheeks and forehead
-Darkness around and under my eyes
-Uneven and dull skin tone

I'm looking for any advice on products to help my skin get that healthy and bright glow back. I'm really interested in face wash/daily moisturizers, tinted moisturizers or corrective bases, but open to any suggestions you might have. Thanks! :)

new coat

I am highly considering ordering this (www.ae.com/web/browse/product.jsp) coat from American Eagle. It isn't carried in any stores near me (I checked, the closest one is 60 miles away...) so I can't go try it on or anything. So, I was wondering if anybody here owns it? Is it warm, does it fit nicely, is it comfortable, etc? Any feedback would be great :]

A few hours ago I discovered a huge cystic pimple starting to form on my cheek. I have a huge work party to go to on Saturday where I need to impress! So, I'm trying to figure out the best course of action to at the very least stop it from getting any bigger.

It's most likely either from stress, or falling asleep with my makeup still on/heavy drinking on New Years. Anyway:

1. I have both Affirm 2x and Helene's mask. Would dabbing on the Affirm first, then once it's absorbed in, covering it with the Helene's mask before bed be over doing it? Should I choose just one?

2. I saw some tagged entries about getting a cortisone shot directly into the pimple. Has anyone had any luck with getting a dermatologist appointment ASAP for that or have you had to wait? I'll call around first thing in the morning, but also...will it make the cyst stand out even more from the injection site?

Aside from those things, I've downed a ton of water and tea and have been using a hot compress. I'll also change my pillowcase every night before Saturday. Does anyone have any other tips? The only thing I can't try is an aspirin mask, I'm allergic :( Thanks so much!!

this is the frist wedding ive ever really been to and my friend can be a bit judgmental so i want to not screw up.

1) i usually have acrylic nails but the last guy who did them (i was at the mall and i didnt see where id have another chance) screwed uo. within a week they had all come off.
so my nails are wrecked not that they have ever been in the best shape. they are thin and break and the polish chips with an hour or two. my husband doesnt want me to get them done again because i dont want them to fall off. the wedding is at the end of the month and id like to paint my nails, an advice on making it stick?

2) im just getting into makeup so i watch tutorials alot. i really want to have nice makeup for the wedding. my dress is purple burgundy and black, and im wearing my fav. black clunky shoes.
so here are the ones i was thinking of i worry it might be a lil dark but there will be a large group of alternative lifestyles there that im not too worried.

I have some great jeans from american eagle that fit and look good on me etc. The only problem is the ridiculous dye transference!
I've washed them around five times just in an effort to get some of the excess dye out. My boyfriend's futon has a big bluish blotch from where I sit! haha. luckily he doesn't care

But yeah... is there anything I can do to 'set' the dye? When I wear these jeans it seems like every time I wash my hands the soap suds are blue :/

Anyone have any experience with Lilash? It seems to be the highest lash growth product next to the one that is prescription only. However, its not cheap! I'm sick of buying every lengthening mascara out there so I want to give this a try. Has it worked for any of you?

In Styler?

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I got an In Styler curling iron/straightener for Christmas. Has anyone used one of these before, is it any good?

I hope so because I have no idea where they got it so I can't return it if it's not good, lol.
I"m looking for a good eye cream.

I'm 27 years old and I really want to start using an eye cream everyday hoping it will help with wrinkles/dark circles in the future. Right now my undereye area is pretty good, i get occasional puffiness in the morning because of my allergies but it usually goes away as soon as i shower and start my day. I've been looking at reviews of creams on sephora and makeupalley and it's very overwhelming. I've already used ones from neutrogena, olay, and l'oreal and i didn't like any of them. I don't mind h/e brands. So i need some suggestions from you guys.

Thanks in advance lovelies!

Hello Everyone,

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Might any of you know what lipstick color that could be, or something similar? Thank you! :)

So I was exposed to the first 6 episodes of Melrose Place and I am kind of reluctantly in love with it.

I noticed that Southrn Belle character has somewhat complicated "lip makeup" if you will. Now I know it's kind of 90's but I like to play up my lips. How do I get a similiar look? Full, pouty, darker on top, lighter bottom, etc? what products? I don't necessarilly need the same exact color, but I would need products that are really pigmented.

Cameron Diaz had similiar lips in the Mask I remembered.

Glam Curls curling iron?

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I feel like I'm abusing this comm with so many questions now, but I'm starting to love you girls so much for your answers. 0:)

I really know squat about curling irons; I've been a flat iron junkie for about eight years. Recently I started really liking the look of "glam curls", or really big and well defined ringlets. My hair is trained straight (after years of straightening), fine, past my back and at the point of sitting on the ends, so hanging onto a curl seems to be mission impossible. I've been watching Youtube vids on how to get these amazing doll-like large ringlets, and would like any advice before saying "DAMN IT" and quitting. :P

My current curling iron (I swear it had a brand name on the box, but the iron itself says Conair *fail*, 3.5") doesn't seem to give me what I want, but it might not be the iron at all. The spray that I'm using is Ion Hydrolac- Extra Firm. I really don't use spray for anything other than these new curling attempts, so this might need to be improved on as well.

I'm entirely open to suggestions.

These are the curls that I'm trying to get, but mine fall sooooo lackluster when they come out of the iron, even when they're hot enough to burn my hands seconds after being released.

As for spray... crunchy curls kind of scares me, but if that's the only way, I'll do it.

January 4th, 2010

My hair has been causing me much distress over the last few weeks and I have no idea what kind of products I should be using.

Background information: My hair is fine, thin, and not color-treated. For years I had oily bangs and dry ends, until a poster on this community suggested switching to sulfate and cone free products because I was using too many harsh products on my hair that was drying out my scalp and subsequently causing it to produce more oil than usual. I switched to a Trader Joe's shampoo and conditioner that worked pretty well for over a year, but I started looking for new products this summer.. I can't remember exactly why, but I think my scalp started to get flaky, and I always felt like my hair smelled.

I switched to Aveeno's Nourish and Volumize shampoo&conditioner due to good reviews, though I don't know why, since it contains very harsh ingredients, which is what I was originally trying to stay away from :(. It actually worked pretty well for a few months and my hair had a lot of volume, but in the past month or so my bangs have gone back to being disgustingly oily, so I think it just dried out my hair too much.

I've been using Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree Special shampoo and conditioner for the last 3 days but it doesn't seem to be helping much. While my bangs don't get oily, my hair is completely flat and lifeless.

All I want is just a simple shampoo and conditioner that won't weigh my hair down, but won't cause it to become oily (I still don't really know if I have an oily or dry scalp--is my scalp just naturally oily, or is it so dry that it overproduces oil?) I'm pretty low maintenance with my hair and don't like to use too many products with it, so for now a decent S&C is all I need.

Thanks in advance!

are there any GOOD blue mascaras on the market? i have benefit's badgal blue from the big lights big city kit and i love how subtle the blue is and how it looks on my eyes, but the formula is awful. it's really dry going on and it flakes off and leaves me with nothing within like five hours.

the only other blue mascara that i'm aware of is maybelline great lash, but that's another formula that just doesn't work with my lashes. i rarely go to the drugstore so before i make a trip, are there any that i'm missing? i like l'oreal and maybelline mascaras most (except great lash), i'm open to really anything except covergirl.

or even high end brands from sephora, if it's good i'll give it a shot. my eyes looked really pretty today until the mascara flaked off. :(

does anybody know any little tips or tricks to get rid of acne fast? the reason i ask is because my first date is on saturday and im breaking out!!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Hi guys! So I get paid in 2 weeks (praise Jesus, because I am SKINT) and I will be getting a new foundation. I reallllly want to get the L'oreal roll on foundation. Because of the roll thing, that's really the only reason (also I have just thought the word "roll" too much and it has lost its meaning) but that's not really a good enough reason is it?
So does anyone have any views on it? My skin is quite shiny (not not nearly so much since I started using Boots shine reducing lotion) and I have a few spots and quite a bit of red scarring which is starting to fade (woo! I've only had acne for 15 years, bout time it cleared off!) so that is my skin type.
My skin really bugs me tho, even without make up on it's such a different colour to my neck it looks like I've got tide marks :(
Also, while I'm here, my work gave us all 50 quids worth of vouchers as a Crimbob present for a big local department store, and they have a make up section with Benefit, Clinique, Lancome and Dior. Not 100% sure if the vouchers can be spent there but if they can I think I'll prob splash out (the sensible thing would be to get 2 bras there since they are the only shop that do them in my size and they are expensive) but um...I quite want some nice stuff. Any reccomendations for nice things these brands do? Anything and everything really, I'm looking to expand my make up collection.

Pale Skin

So my skin is extremely pale and pasty, I have troubles with make up as it always looks too harsh on me. I have pink undertones and my hair/eyes are dark brown. Please recommend make up products/tutorials that will suit me(especially bronzers and blush), and colors to choose/avoid.

Oxford Heels

What do you gals think of Oxford Heels? Cute, or no? I am going to Europe in a few weeks and am looking for a cute pair of heels that I can dress up or down and that will be comfortable to walk in. Impossible? Maybe... I saw a pair like this in DSW with a thinner heel (but not much thinner)

http://www.bandolino.com/Samarra/70117530,default,pd.html?cgid=70001090&itemNum=8&variantSizeClass=&variantColor=DBROWLE

I have to say I don't really know much about heels--I pretty much live in UGGS in the winter and nice sandals in the summer--so, what do you think?

Owies!

Some of you may remember me from back in the day as [info]kandi_panties. I'm back. I missed you girls! Happy new year!

Okay, onto my question:

My best friend bought me this amazing eyemask for sleeping for Christmas. I cannot sleep without it now, but I'm getting huge almost cyst-y feeling pimples behind the ear where my earrings hit. (I have 5 earrings in one, 6 in the other, but cannot take out the top hole yet since it's fresh).

I'm not 100% sure it's from the mask, I mean it could be the earring hitting and being mean, but it also left me a pimple mid cheek.

Any advice to getting rid of them or stopping them?

I guess I should note I very rarely get pimples at all. Also, no Salicylic acid remedies... I'm allergic! :)

Religious hangups...

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I was raised in the Baptist religion, and my mother is a very devout christian, and so are my grandparents, but ever since I was a teenager and found out what Wicca is, I realized that I have quite a few beliefs that stem from this religion also. I strongly believe in the Threefold Law, and the idea of "And Harm It None Do What Ye Will", and the idea of importannce of nature/animals in Wicca, and how each color corresponds to a different God/Goddess, or idea, such as "purity", etc...I've read different versions of the Wiccan Rede, but can't really understand it, and years ago I bought a book by Silver Ravenwolf called "Teen Witch: Wicca for a New Generation", and to this day almost keep iy by my side, just like I do my Bible (New World Translation or New International Version, just because they're easier to read/understand), and I even have a small yellow book (not a bible) that I got from a friend who is a devouit Jehovah's Witness (though I am not, and disagree with a LOT of their beliefs) called "What Does The Bible Really Teach" that I really like....

But i'm in conflict. I believe in ideas in Christianity also, such as the Ten Commandments, stories from the bible i've been brought up to know, etc...but I also believe a lot in Wicca.
After living with this conflict for years, i've come to know/call myself a "Christian Wiccan"...I know they contradict themselves, but it's the only thing that makes sense to me. I've even found this site: Wicca: For the Rest of Us - Christian Wicca

So what do you guys think??
